Sushi Tie

Sushi Tie is a Japanese outlet. I like Japanese so we had to stop by and try out this restaurant.

It looked good from the outside. Inside the decor was nice but spaces is limited. If you are a wide person...it can get tacky trying to walk in between the table.

Errrrrrrrr....where are the sushiessssssss??? We didnt dare to try them as the sushies looked like they have been riding that choo choo train the whole day long....so we decided to order 'em fresh. No bad. The menu didnt offer much choice tho...mostly ramen noodle set. No rice set for dinner crowd. They save them for the lunch crowd. Strange.

Shopping in Bintulu

If you love shopping, DO NOT GO TO BINTULU, Sorry to say that there is nothing much to find here. Better to drive 3 hours and shop in MIRI, more choices over there.

Barely enough branded shops and only one shopping mall
Parkcity Mall in Bintulu. City Point is another mall but a very tiny one. Barely anything in that tiny mall.

Farley Shopping Mall is the another place you can shop but again not many choices either and I do not even call this place a mall. In my opinion Farley cant even be call a Mall because a mall is one or more buildings forming a complex of shops with interconnecting walkways.

There is MBS mart. Some clothing upstairs but do not have high expectation

Kemena Hotel Bintulu

Yummy...down the street from Venus Inn is another planet called Kemena Hotel. At RM88 nett pernight (at the time of writing coz still new), it was indeed value for money. With comfy bed, refrigerator, kettle, hair dryer, cupboard, lift and no extra charge for two pillows...I was very happy. We stayed on the fifth floor facing the shophouses. The picture you see below is the back of the hotel facing the housing area. They got a restaurant called LABistro...have not tried it yet.
UPDATE:-
Now the rates have climb up high...I call them to check out their rates on 18 Jul...they said promo rate deluxe room with breakie is RM128nett and twin is at RM118nett...woo wee...getting pricey...

Venus Inn Bintulu

Ahhh...venus. Recently open inn so everything was new. Price RM88 nett for this room you see in the picture. No refrigerator. No Hair dryer. No cupboard. No cupboard. Wall hanger so high. For a petite person like me...tough...had to stand on tip toes just to hang those towels.

No lift...lucky room was on the first floor so it was not too bad carrying our load up on those long flight of stairs.

Hall way echoes when someone walks or closes a door.

The first time we ask for extra pillow, we were told it is rented out at RM3 a piece. Later at night, we asked a different guy and he was kind enough to give one for free.

The bed was springy...meaning if you are a princess and the pea story...forget sleeping. I can feel each spring in that bed. No Zzzzzzzz....

Overall I rate this inn as...the first and the last time visit.

Bintulu Hotel & Inns

Hello. You ending up here in my blog is because of the same reasons I had back many ages ago when I was looking for a good hotel to stay in.

I am a fussy traveller...rooms must be smoke free, beds must be comfy and location must be good especially if I have no car to travel.

Bintulu has many Inns and hotel ranging from scary ones to really super cool.

First and formost you must understand Bintulu is quite spread out. I have identified 5 major commercial area. Bintulu Town Center, Park City Commercial Square, Tanjung Batu Commercial Centere, Assyakirin Commercial Centre and Medan Jaya Commercial Center. The rest are too small to mention.

To get from one area to the other, you need a car or take a taxi...bicycle is also ok if you do not mind getting to your destination sweaty and puff out.

Assyakirin Commercial and Medan Jaya Commercial Center is pretty closeby...just cross a dual carriageway and a road island...

The Dual Carriageway
No problem for big guys like you to cross but for fussy traveller like me....errrr...so hot oh...so dusty oh...can we take a taxi? Hee.... There are banks nearby like Public and Maybank. Farley and Sing Kwong are two major departmental store that is also within this area.

Hotels/Inn found in this area are:-
  • Tune
  • Kemena Hotel
  • Kemena Residence
  • Venus
  • Homey Guesthouse
Further down the road located in the middle of neither here nor there meaning no closeby shops so you will end up at the hotel restaurant whether they serve good food or not are...
  • Jinhold
  • Everly Hotel
  • Imperial Suite
Bintulu Town Center is the land for INNs...plenty to choose from but they definately do not look like the type a fussy travaller will go unless no choice.

The only reason I will pick to stay in Bintulu town area is me not having a car. Staying in town center is great because the choices is lots...plenty of makan shops, banks and sights to see. You will also find Bintulu's ONLY cinema here...located at Top floor of City Point Complex. Dreary looking cinema k...One thing unique about Bintulu Old Town is those little shops under the stair. You cannot miss them if you walk along the shops.

Park City Commercial Square is definately the place to be as the one and only Biggest Bintulu Mall is located here. Its kind of large...lots of new inns are located here. They are space out in different row of shophouses...depending on where that Inn is located...you may need to walk a little bit to get to the mall...on rainy days that will get difficult if you have no umbrella.
900 Inn is a unique hotel and it is located a Fortuna Park. Nothing much around the few shophouses here because it is located at residential area. Li Hua Hotel is similiar to 900 Inn and it is also located in a residential area called Berjaya Commercial Center

You can click on my Hotel Link (at the bottom) to get to the individual hotel official website or click on to the Bintulu Development Authority Page. However take note that BDA  list is not up to date.
